The Fédération Luxembourgeoise des Négociants en Matériaux de Construction, established in 1935, initially aimed to strengthen solidarity among its members, protect their collective interests, and resolve internal conflicts. These objectives remain relevant today.

Today, building material traders no longer merely distribute products; they have become advisors to a diverse clientele, ranging from DIY enthusiasts to professionals. They act as wholesalers, retailers, advisors, and intermediaries between manufacturers and consumers.

The federation, now called FEMACO, supports its members by guiding them through various challenges, particularly in the areas of environment, training, communication, legal matters, prevention, and certification. At the European level, FEMACO remains active as a member of UFEMAT, the European Union of National Building Materials Merchants Associations, which brings together 15 European countries.
